Buy it! You could spend twice as much money on a forgettable weekend in the pub. I can honestly say, it is probably the best money I have ever spent on a soft synth, and I own some really good soft synths already. This is precisely where Pigments shines, the unusually well-conceived user interface design makes it uniquely easy and enjoyable to learn from existing presets and even if you never bought any other presets the factory presets are excellent and the Arturia learning content is really good too. It just feels like you owe it to yourself to have them and each one is a masterclass in sound design. They are so damned good and reasonably priced. I've already spent more money on presets for this one synth than all the others combined. The only real problem with this awesome piece of kit is that it is hard to resist the presets for sale in the Arturia web store. Pigments 3 is a state-of-the-art software instrument that gives you the power of every shade of synthesis: from bright nylon-like plucks to the fattest. But I'd still recommend it without reservation. Be warned, some of the more elaborate presets can be hard on your CPU. But Arturia Pigments is in a league of its own. I also own Serum, Massive, MassiveX, FM8, Absynth, Reaktor 5 and 6 (which include some very tasty soft synths) and others. And the factory presets are surprisingly good. The UI is artful, pleasant to use, well organised.
